I love Vijay’s and always have like the burgers like the chilli like the fries. You have to enjoy it for the historical Winnipeg place It is. Eating outside in the summertime at the picnic benches or in your car. Is all part of the VJ’s experience. The pros can do it wearing a suit and tie.
Great burgers, great fries, service with character. This place is a Winnipeg institution. Not fancy but they do one thing and they do it very well.
They know their burgers! The service is "lacking" because this is a pick up location with an outdoor dining area. Gotta love their attitude through the window, old school, may be a little bit too rough for some. Burger wise, their special is truly special. A good balance of chili, patty, produce, and sauces. Go all in, you will thank them right away.
I absolutely love your burgers however I would like to ask if you could have halal options for your meats as it would widen your customers (I love your burgers before I ate halal meat) but now since I fully eat halal meat I can’t enjoy them SO PLEASE TAKE consideration! This place has been on my radar for sometime. With the sun shinning, it was a beautiful day to explore Winnipeg. And what better way to top it off then with a stop at this iconic burger joint. I opted for the VJ special and a side of fries. UPDATE: They accept Visa and debit! The burger can be tastefully messy, but it is still a wonderful experience. The copious amount of fries were golden and crispy. Judging from the size of the burger and the fries, you could certainly share this. If you aren’t into sharing your burger, definitely share the fries.
Great first experience at VJ's. Took order fast, meal was incredibly fast and fresh. The burgers and hotdogs were near perfectly dressed. Little heavy on lettuce for me but it's a learning curve and I will definitely be back. Pricing was very reasonable. The fries.... You get fries and they are cooked exactly as they should be.
My favourite spot to eat in Winnipeg. It hasn’t changed at all over the years, which is perfect. Friendly staff, quick service, and excellent food. Recommended to friends and family. - 2025 update, my wife took me here at 9:10pm the night before we were travelling home. Everything is still perfect. Happy I could get V.J.’s Special before heading back out of town.
